GBS Prüfpuls rev3 Pulse Generator for Long-Term Insulation Testing

The Prüfpuls unit is designed for long-term insulation tests on test specimens with capacitances of up to 6 nF.

Converter for High-Voltage Test Transformer

· Internal sine wave generator: 50–200 Hz.
· Pulse-width modulation 16–24 kHz of the sine wave via full bridge.
· Converter voltage adjustable from 0–600 V, Imax = 2.6 A, maximum output 1.3 kW
· Pulse current limitation 110 A (cut-off threshold)

Pulse Transformer – Control

· Control via full-bridge
· Full-bridge power supply adjustable 0–1000 V, 1.3 A max.
· Pulse current limitation 100 A (cut-off threshold)
· Pulse width 20–120 μs, nominal 94 μs, adjustable
· 2 selectable series inductances: 150 μH, 300 μH to adapt pulse width and rise times to load capacitance and voltage
· Pulse repetition rate 0.1 – 2.5 kHz, adjustable
· Polarity: adjustable for positive, negative, or alternating, depending on the polarity of the sine signal
· Cosine-shaped pulse at the transformer output

Pulse Transformer Cascade

· Output transformers in 5-stage cascaded configuration
· Overall turns ratio selectable via taps: 1:7.7, 1:10 or 1:15
· Maximum output voltage 15 kV, with possible load capacitances of: * 6 nF with pulse width of 73 μs at a repetition rate of 2.5 kHz * 10 nF with a pulse width of 103 μs at a repetition rate of 1.25 kHz
· Voltage divider 1:1000 in parallel
· Overvoltage protection at approx. 20–23 kV via parallel spark gaps
· Thermistor for overtemperature detection in the first transformer stage
· Ground-side current measurement socket 100 mV/A

Breakdown Detection, Testing

· If the maximum bridge currents for transformer control or maximum currents for the bridge power supplies are exceeded, the high voltage is switched off
· The device features a resettable hour meter to determine the test duration
