The Reitruder technology features co-rotating twin screws. We have adapted this twin-screw technology for use in direct extrusion lines – mainly for inline compounding. This allows several process steps to be combined into one.

Our Reitruder twin-screw technology processes high proportions of additives and fillers. Instead of ready-mixed compounds, fillers such as calcium carbonate or talcum are continuously fed in. At the same time, direct extrusion lowers energy costs compared to a two-step process with compounding: Without interim solidification and remelting, the Reitruder operates in a single continuous process from raw material to the finished product.

EXTRUSION
Among several innovations presented at NPE, Reifenhäuser’s core exhibit was the co-rotating twin-screw extruder Reitruder RZE 85. A sophisticated concept with new design elements was developed. The screw geometry has been adapted with increased channel depth and a newly designed feed section to meet changing requirements. These measures alone improve material feed when using PET flakes or regrind and increase the volume available for incorporating fillers. These features provide significant advantages for processing lower quality feedstocks. In addition, enhanced venting efficiency allows processing of material with moisture content up to 0.5%, minimizing the need for pre-drying.
