Body: Classic truck – 3-way tipper body. Swirl chamber diesel engine type EM4-20, 4-cylinder (inline), 6024 cm³, water-cooled, unsynchronized 5-speed gearbox, maximum speed: 60 km/h. The successor model to the H3 was the H3A truck. It was publicly introduced at the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1949 and produced from mid-1950 to 1956 at the Zwickau VEB Kraftfahrzeugwerk HORCH, initially as a flatbed truck. The H3A was a completely new design as a bonneted (long-nose) truck with diesel engine. The diesel engine was developed based on a VOMAG concept. At the Leipzig Spring Fair, the H3A was presented as a tractor unit with tanker semi-trailer; further variants such as three-way tippers, livestock trucks, road tractors, tankers, as well as special bodies for the postal service and Red Cross, and as furniture vans, were built. Around 180 forward control buses (H3B) were manufactured at the LOWA plant in Bautzen, based on the H3A chassis. The main area of operation was predominantly in the civil sector, but the H3A was also used by the People's Police and later by the Barracked People's Police and the NVA.
