Vacuum Turning Portal for Panels

The turning unit offers two different 'automatic' operating modes:

I. Part is conveyed without rotation
The part is only shifted laterally, aligned to the zero edge of the machining center, and then cycled to the machining center (BAZ).

II. Part is conveyed with rotation
The part is shifted laterally and rotated along its longitudinal axis before being cycled to the BAZ.

Each function can also be operated manually in 'Hand' mode.

The turning portal is equipped with a total of 24 vacuum suction cups to ensure gentle handling of the elements.
The elements are always picked up by vacuum and either moved horizontally to the reference line of the BAZ or rotated by 180° during transport before being positioned at the zero edge.
The rotational movement is monitored by absolute encoders, while the lateral positioning uses adjustable photoelectric sensors.
Vacuum generation is accomplished by a blower.
The roller conveyor table, measuring 8500 mm x 4300 mm wide with roller diameter of 108 mm, is fitted with gentle rubber rings to protect materials. The drive is provided by a SEW gear motor.
Control of the roller table is via frequency inverter, with a freely adjustable speed up to 45 m/min.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The entire area is enclosed by fencing; the longitudinal section of the unit is secured by two sliding doors. The doors are monitored for safety.

The operator panel with 12" touch display is integrated into the fence area.
The installed Siemens S7-1500 PLC is programmed with three levels:
• Automatic operation
• Manual operation
• Maintenance mode
