The Bergmann PS1400 is an intelligent compaction station, also referred to as a mini compactor, offering an alternative to traditional baling presses. Instead of compacting recyclable material into bales, the PS1400-E compresses the recyclable material directly into a large plastic bag (approx. 1,400 liters) placed on a pallet. This system is ideal for environments where a continuous stream of recyclables is generated, such as distribution centers, supermarkets, or manufacturing plants handling significant volumes of packaging material.

Unlike conventional balers, the machine features a rotating compaction roller rather than a reciprocating press plate, allowing the PS1400-E to process recyclables on a continuous basis without having to pause for separate press cycles. Users simply load cardboard, plastic film, residual waste, or other materials into the machine’s hopper. A powerful steel roller equipped with blades grabs the material, shreds it into pieces, and forces it down into the bag.

Continuous loading is possible—the filling opening can remain open while the roller operates, eliminating downtime. This enables a much higher processing speed compared to a baler, where you typically have to wait for the pressing cycle to finish before reopening the door. The PS1400 is user-friendly, featuring a simple start/stop button or even a fully automatic mode (on some models it initiates automatically when recyclable material is detected). Because the recyclable material is compacted into a robust PE bag, you end up with a compact 'block' of recyclables secured on a pallet. This package can easily be sealed and moved via pallet truck or forklift. A key benefit is that the packed waste is clean and leak-proof, allowing you to transport it alongside goods with no risk of contamination. This is particularly convenient in supermarkets or industrial operations, as these packed waste bags can be returned on the delivery truck, avoiding unnecessary empty return trips.

The PS1400 saves not only storage space (up to 80% less waste volume, depending on material) but also labor time. Staff need to visit the waste container less frequently and there’s no need for manual baling, strapping, or heavy lifting—the waste bag is only changed when it’s full, which takes much longer. The machine is safe (equipped with emergency stop and secure access features) and, thanks to its electric drive, is also relatively quiet. Maintenance requirements are low: the rotating compaction roller is self-cleaning and the hydraulic system is built for durability.
