The tools mounted on the shafts are intentionally made from HX 500 material, since plastics cannot be hardfaced. By optionally hardfacing the wear zones, a surface hardness of 62 HRC is achieved on the HX 500 discs using armouring wire. This provides optimal wear protection for the tools and enables powerful, bi-directional rotation, which is essential for processing cohesive materials. The ability to hardface the tools reduces operating costs, as worn discs or shafts do not need to be replaced immediately.
