Description:

The machine’s design is extremely straightforward. The workpiece is inserted into the machine. A quickly adjustable stop with pneumatic locking centers the workpiece. After activating a foot switch, the workpiece is pneumatically clamped and automatically conveyed to the drilling unit (30 m/min).

The vertical spindles drill from below, so chips do not remain on the workpiece as they would with conventional machining centers. The horizontal spindles operate on two sides of the workpiece.

Workpiece length can be unlimited, as the workpiece is moved towards the drilling unit (X-axis). Drilling spindles are individually or collectively programmable and move on the Y-axis. The drilling depth as well as the horizontal drill movements are controlled via the Z-axis.

Once all drilling operations are completed, the workpiece is conveyed back to the infeed side or, optionally, to the outfeed side.

Unlike conventional machining centers, where the workpiece is clamped with vacuum and the vacuum cups must be manually adjusted to the workpiece size, this step is completely eliminated with the 3-axis controlled point-to-point drilling machine.
